Free Five-Day Health Camp Launched in Lahaul to Commemorate His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’s 90th Birthday.

In celebration of the 90th birthday of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, a five-day free health camp has been launched in the remote regions of Lahaul. This humanitarian initiative, jointly organized by Tong-Len Charitable Trust, the Dalai Lama Trust, and Nyingma Gonpa Rewalsar, is part of the broader observance of 2025 as the “Year of Compassion.”
The health camp was officially inaugurated on May 25, 2025, at Geymur village by former MLA Ravi Thakur and Monk Jamyang, founder and director of the Tong-Len Charitable Trust. It aims to deliver essential medical services to underserved communities in far-flung areas of Himachal Pradesh.
On this occasion, district BJP president Rigzin Samphel Heyerpa also attended the event.
The camp will be held at the following locations:
- May 25–26, 2025: Geymur
- May 27, 2025: Darcha Sumdo Thangga
- May 28, 2025: Beeling
- May 29, 2025: Sissu
The initiative will provide a wide range of diagnostic services, including:
- Routine blood tests
- Electrocardiograms (ECG)
- PCR and hormone tests
- X-rays
- Additional essential medical examinations
This health outreach program not only honors the compassionate teachings and universal message of peace, non-violence, and interfaith harmony advocated by His Holiness, but also serves as a prayer for his long life and continued blessings.
Speaking about the event, C. Palkit Negi, Public Relations Officer of Tong-Len Charitable Trust, emphasized the importance of bringing healthcare to the doorsteps of remote Himalayan communities and reflected on the enduring legacy of His Holiness in inspiring ethical and compassionate actions.
This joint initiative is expected to benefit hundreds of residents, reinforcing the core values of compassion and social responsibility that His Holiness has championed throughout his life.
