The historic town of Mandi is WITNESSING high-energy sporting action as a grand three-day wrestling dangal is being organized from February 20 to 22 as part of the annual International Shivratri Fair. The prestigious event has drawn enthusiastic participation from wrestlers across various categories, delivering thrilling bouts for wrestling lovers and visitors alike.

The wrestling competition, a major highlight of the fair, has brought together talented male and female wrestlers who have displayed remarkable strength, skill, and sportsmanship in the traditional Indian sport.

Sonika Clinches “Mahila Kesari” Title

In the women’s category, Sonika from Bilaspur emerged victorious after an impressive performance in the final bout, defeating Muskan from Chamba to claim the coveted “Mahila Kesari” title. The match drew loud applause from spectators as both wrestlers showcased exceptional determination and competitive spirit.

The prize structure for the Mahila Kesari category was announced as follows:

  • Winner: Rs. 12,000
  • Runner-up: Rs. 10,000

Prestigious Participation at Bharat Kesari Level

Providing details about the event, Wrestling Committee Convener and Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dharampur) Sanjeev Sood stated that the dangal has featured wrestlers across multiple weight and competition categories, making it a major attraction during the fair.

Co-Convener Dr. Sanjay Yadav, a Parshuram Awardee, informed that renowned wrestlers of Bharat Kesari level were specially invited this year to elevate the standard of competition. Their semi-final and final bouts commenced at 10:00 AM on February 22, with the final matches scheduled to conclude before 12:00 noon the same day.
