CM Sukhu Inaugurates and Lays Foundation Stones for Development Projects Worth Rs. 78.47 Crore in Kullu’s Banjar Constituency.

In a major push towards infrastructure development in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 19 key developmental projects amounting to Rs. 78.47 crore in Banjar assembly constituency. The public function took place at Dehuri, where a large gathering witnessed the unveiling of these significant works.
Of the total projects, the Chief Minister inaugurated seven completed projects worth several crores, including the much-awaited Rs. 7.32 crore Banjar bypass road and a new bridge in tehsil Banjar. This infrastructure is expected to greatly ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity in the region. Other inaugurations included:
- Manglour Bridge (Rs.1.38 crore) on NH 305 to improve rural access and safety.
- Lift Water Supply Scheme (Rs.2.80 crore) to benefit villages such as Tinda Sharan, Bijohi, Galoon Laid, Tilroo, and Chanour in Banjar tehsil.
- Another Lift Water Supply Scheme (Rs.2.17 crore) for Dodni-Age and Bhatgran habitation in GP Diyar, tehsil Kullu.
- “Har Ghar Nal Se Jal” initiative (Rs. 2.06 crore) to provide piped water to households in Larji, CV Kotla.
- Multi-Storied Parking Facility (Rs. 2.80 crore) at Banjar bus stand to improve urban infrastructure.
- Science Laboratory (Rs. 1.35 crore) at Sainj, aimed at improving educational facilities for local students.
In addition to inaugurating existing infrastructure, CM Sukhu laid the foundation stones for a number of upcoming projects that reflect a balanced focus on road connectivity, water security, and flood mitigation:
- New Roads: Johal Jeshta Ashni Puin road (Rs. 4.73 crore), Jawal Tinda via Seri Bella Beogi road (Rs. 4.65 crore).
- Bridges: Bridge over Tirthan River in Banjar (Rs. 7.11 crore), and single-span steel truss bridges over Sainj Khad costing Rs. 6.20 crore and Rs. 5.82 crore.
- Flood Protection Works:
- Rs. 8.02 crore project from Sharabai to Bajaura along both sides of River Beas.
- Rs. 1.90 crore for protection along Tirthan Khad near Banjar.
- Rs 3.40 crore for flood mitigation and embankment work for KVK Bajaura farm.
- Rs. 4.85 crore to protect Tirthan Jibhi Khad near Dwala Shari and Ratwah.
- Rs. 1.83 crore for Sainj Khad in various reaches.
- Rs. 6.35 crore for extensive protection along Jibhi and Tirthan Khads covering Hidab, Ghiagi, Jibhi, Dawala, Damothi, and several other areas.
Also included was a Rs. l3.72 crore initiative for reclamation and restoration of rain-damaged infrastructure in Sainj market and along the right bank of the Sainj Khad.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Sukhu emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring holistic development in rural and semi-urban Himachal, saying, “These projects are a testimony to our vision of sustainable infrastructure, better water supply, and disaster resilience. We are focused on ensuring equitable growth and timely execution of development plans.”
The Chief Minister also interacted with locals and assured speedy implementation of the new projects. The day-long program reflected the state government’s proactive approach toward development and welfare of remote regions.
