CM Sukhvinder Sukhu Inaugurates Historic Shoolini Fair in Solan: A Grand Celebration of Devotion and Culture Begins.
Solan:
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today inaugurated the historic three-day Shoolini Fair in Solan, marking the commencement of one of Himachal Pradesh’s most vibrant and culturally significant festivals. The age-old fair, dedicated to Goddess Shoolini, is a symbol of faith, tradition, and communal harmony, drawing thousands of devotees from across the state and beyond.
The Shoolini Fair, a centuries-old tradition, celebrates the symbolic visit of Goddess Shoolini—the presiding deity of Solan—to her elder sister Goddess Durga at the temple in Ganj Bazaar. The palanquin procession (Shobha Yatra) of the goddess through the city’s streets forms the spiritual and visual centerpiece of the celebrations, transforming the town into a vibrant mosaic of colors, devotion, music, and dance.

The Chief Minister also showered flower petals on the palanquin, showcasing deep reverence for the deity and honoring the traditions of the fair. His participation was warmly received by the people, many of whom saw his gesture as an affirmation of the state’s commitment to preserving its rich cultural heritage.
