Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of five lives across various parts of Himachal Pradesh in the past 24 hours due to torrential rains and related incidents.
According to official reports, the fatalities were reported from different regions of the state affected by continuous heavy rainfall:
- Two deaths occurred in Dubloo, Junga under Shimla Rural constituency.
- One death was reported from Chol village in Kotkhai.
- Another fatality took place in Boli village, under Panchayat Badhal of the Jubbal area.
- The fifth victim was reported from Chauras village, located in Nauradhar tehsil under the Renuka Ji Assembly constituency of Sirmaur district.
In a statement issued to the media, Chief Minister Sukhu said, “The state government stands in complete solidarity with the affected families in this hour of grief. We are committed to extending all possible help and assistance to them.”
The Chief Minister offered his condolences, praying to the Almighty to grant peace to the departed souls and strength to the bereaved families to bear this irreparable loss.
He also appealed to the public to remain cautious during the ongoing spell of inclement weather, which has increased the risk of landslides, flash floods, and rockfalls in several districts.
With the monsoon continuing to wreak havoc in the hill state, the administration has been placed on high alert, and efforts are underway to assess damages, restore connectivity in affected areas, and ensure timely relief to impacted communities.
The government has urged residents, particularly in vulnerable and landslide-prone areas, to stay indoors as much as possible and report any emergencies to local authorities without delay.
Further updates on relief measures and weather forecasts are expected in the coming hours.
