In a vibrant celebration of youth, culture, and talent, senior residents of the Girls’ Hostel at Vallabh Government College, Mandi, hosted a grand fresher’s welcome party titled “Freshaura” for newly admitted students. The event, held in the college examination hall from 2 PM onwards, turned out to be a delightful showcase of creativity and camaraderie.

The event was graced by Principal Dr. Sanjeev Kumar as the Chief Guest, while Chief Warden Professor Seema Sharma and Warden Dr. Banita Saklani attended as Guests of Honour. Several faculty members were also present to encourage the participants.

The fresher’s party featured an exciting lineup of activities including modelling, dance performances, singing, stand-up comedy, and a quiz competition. The cultural richness was reflected through energetic and graceful performances, including folk dances like Bhangra, Lavani, Rajasthani, Gujarati, and Himachali Nati, along with Bollywood dance numbers and songs in both Hindi and English.

The highlight of the event was the “Miss Fresher” competition, where the students showcased their talents, confidence, and charm.

  • From the Postgraduate section, Shivani was crowned Miss Fresher, with Pritika and Rachna declared the first and second runners-up respectively.
  • From the Undergraduate section, Kinjal Sharma earned the title of Miss Fresher, while Kanishka and Khushboo were named the first and second runners-up.

Principal Dr. Sanjeev Kumar congratulated the winners and encouraged the newcomers to strive for excellence in every aspect of life. He praised the senior students for their remarkable organisational skills and stressed the importance of sharing knowledge and experience with juniors to build a supportive learning environment.

Chief Warden Professor Seema Sharma extended her gratitude to all attendees and urged the new students to maintain a balance between academics and cultural participation. Warden Dr. Banita Saklani motivated the freshers to uphold the hostel’s values and create cherished memories during their academic journey.

The event successfully provided a platform to uncover and nurture the students’ hidden talents. The enthusiasm and energy of the participants left a lasting impression on everyone present.
