Landslide Strikes Kundooni Village in Jogindernagar in Mandi; 22 Families Affected, 10 Homes Destroyed.
Shimla:
A massive landslide hit Kundooni village under the Jogindernagar subdivision of Mandi district on Tuesday night, affecting 22 families and completely destroying 10 houses. Fortunately, no human casualties have been reported in this natural disaster, though one cow was buried under the debris.
According to Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Manish Chaudhary, the landslide occurred due to continued heavy rainfall in the region. The local administration responded swiftly and evacuated all the affected families early in the morning as a precautionary measure. As the landslide activity is still ongoing, authorities have relocated the residents to safer areas to prevent any mishap.

The district administration has established a temporary relief camp at Soni Enclave Hotel in Bassi, where all the displaced families are being provided with accommodation and food. Arrangements have also been made for the shelter and care of livestock owned by the affected families.
SDM Manish Chaudhary stated,“The administration is on high alert. Rescue and relief operations are ongoing, and every possible assistance is being extended to the affected families. Immediate relief will be provided to ensure their basic needs are met without delay.”
Officials are continuously monitoring the situation, as the terrain remains unstable due to persistent rainfall. Emergency response teams remain stationed in the area, and geologists may be called in to assess further risks.
This incident once again highlights the increasing vulnerability of hilly regions in Himachal Pradesh during the monsoon season, emphasizing the need for long-term mitigation strategies and community preparedness.
