Devastating Landslide Hits Kullu’s Inner Akhara Bazaar; One dead, three injured, 5 Buried, Rescue Ops Underway.

A massive landslide struck the congested Inner Akhara Bazaar in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh early Thursday morning, burying at least nine people under heavy debris and mud. The disaster, triggered by relentless rainfall over the past several days, has caused widespread panic and destruction in the area.

Official sources, confirmed that one body has been recovered so far. Three critically injured individuals have been rescued and shifted to the Regional Hospital in Kullu for urgent medical attention. Rescue efforts are ongoing to locate the remaining five people still trapped beneath the rubble.

The landslide hit two residential houses, catching residents by surprise in the early hours. Rescue teams, including the District Disaster Management Authority, local police, and district administration, are battling difficult weather and dangerous terrain to continue search operations.

Tragically, this is the second landslide to hit the area in just 24 hours. On Wednesday, two people went missing after a similar incident and remain untraceable.

Authorities have issued alerts across the region, urging residents to avoid travel to high-risk zones. Heavy monsoon rains continue to pose serious threats across Himachal Pradesh, with multiple districts reporting landslides and infrastructure damage.
