Statue of Former CM Virbhadra Singh to Be Unveiled on October 13 at Shimla’s Historic Ridge.
Shimla:
The much-awaited unveiling of the statue of former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and revered public leader, the late Raja Virbhadra Singh, will now take place on October 13, 2025 (Monday) at the historic Ridge Ground in Shimla. This announcement was made by Vikramaditya Singh, Minister of Public Works and Urban Development, and President of the Virbhadra Singh Foundation.
The grand event, initially scheduled for June 23, 2025—Virbhadra Singh’s birth anniversary—was postponed due to the devastating natural calamities that struck the state earlier this year. In the wake of widespread destruction and loss of life, the Foundation had unanimously decided to defer the ceremony in a gesture of solidarity with the affected people.
Honoring Raja Virbhadra Singh’s legacy of compassion and service, the Foundation donated Rs. 11 lakh to the Deputy Commissioner of Mandi for the education of children who lost their parents during the disaster.
With the rescheduled date now confirmed, the event will be attended by several prominent leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, MP and General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, AICC In-Charge Rajni Patil, State Congress President Pratibha Singh, and other dignitaries. Senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi is also expected to attend.
Vikramaditya Singh extended an open invitation to all citizens, devotees, and members of the media to witness and be part of this historic occasion, celebrating the life and contributions of one of Himachal Pradesh’s tallest political figures.
