Priyanka Gandhi accuses Modi government of attempting to destabilize Himachal Pradesh Congress Government.
Shimla:
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the Modi government and the BJP, accusing them of orchestrating efforts to topple the democratically elected Congress government in Himachal Pradesh.

Speaking at a public gathering in support of Congress candidate Anand Sharma vying for the Kangra parliament seat at Chambi, Priyanka Gandhi asserted that the Prime Minister and his party’s alleged endeavors to undermine the state government reflected their disregard for democratic norms. She contended, “The Prime Minister, whose party (BJP) had attempted to undermine the state government, cannot genuinely claim to be an advocate for the people of Himachal Pradesh.”
Highlighting what she described as the BJP’s pursuit of power at any cost, Gandhi accused the ruling party of resorting to financial inducements and corrupt practices to sway legislators. She challenged the electorate, questioning whether they would endorse such tactics.
Addressing the Prime Minister’s purported indifference towards the state’s challenges, Gandhi criticized Modi for not extending substantial aid to Himachal Pradesh following significant losses incurred during the previous monsoon season. She emphasized the discrepancy between Modi’s professed affection for the state and his actions, likening his visits to those of a tourist.
Gandhi pivoted to the national level, lambasting the NDA government’s economic policies for exacerbating unemployment, particularly among the youth. She decried what she termed as preferential treatment towards industrialists, exemplified by schemes like Agniveer, which she claimed neglected the welfare of marginalized communities.
In a direct attack on the BJP’s governance, Gandhi accused the party of neglecting farmers’ welfare, leading to inadequate remuneration for their produce and soaring prices of essential commodities. She lamented the disproportionate impact of these policies on the vulnerable sections of society.
