Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Sunday announced that the state government is set to bring about major reforms in the education policy with a focus on improving learning outcomes in government schools. As part of this initiative, special instructors for English and Mathematics will be recruited soon in government schools that are being brought under the CBSE curriculum. He said that the recruitment process for these instructors would begin shortly.

The Chief Minister was addressing a public meeting after inaugurating the Gugga Dham and a park constructed at a cost of about Rs. 60 lakh in his ancestral village Bhawran under Amlehar Gram Panchayat, during his one-day visit to the Nadaun Assembly constituency in Hamirpur district.

He informed that the Amlehar school has also been granted CBSE status. The work on the Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding School is progressing at a rapid pace and classes will commence from next year. The Chief Minister further stated that multiple subjects would be introduced in four selected schools of the state, including Amlehar, to enable students to choose subjects according to their interests and aptitude.

Highlighting the state government’s efforts to strengthen the rural economy, the Chief Minister appealed to farmers to adopt natural farming practices. By cultivating turmeric on five kanals of land, farmers can earn up to Rs. 3 lakh, he added.

The Chief Minister also emphasized the government’s push towards renewable energy, stating that subsidies are being provided for setting up solar plants on barren land. Youth can earn a net annual profit of up to Rs. 3 lakh by installing a solar plant on four kanals of land, he said.
