Mandi Municipal Corporation Holds Key Meeting on Urban Development and Infrastructure Projects.

The Mandi Municipal Corporation held its ordinary meeting today under the chairmanship of Mayor Virender Bhatt Sharma. The meeting was attended by officials from various departments of the Municipal Corporation, along with representatives from NHAI, Him Urja (Solar Energy Department), Jal Shakti (Water Resources Department), and the Electricity Board.
The discussion focused on ongoing and upcoming development projects across the municipal area, with councilors providing detailed updates and feedback from their respective wards.
During the meeting, Municipal Commissioner Rohit Rathour informed the house that the NHAI has awarded a tender worth approximately Rs. 7 crore for the construction of the Bhuli to Bijni road following an application from the Municipal Corporation. The work has already commenced, and the council expressed gratitude to the NHAI officials for their support.
Him Urja Department shared that 151 new solar streetlights will be installed by February 10 in Ward No. 1 (Khaliar), Ward No. 4 (Nela), and Ward No. 14 (Baihna). Plans are underway to extend the installation of solar lights to the remaining wards shortly.

Officials from the Jal Shakti Department highlighted recurring damage to the Riyagdi Uhl project during disasters, which affects water supply in the city. To address this, the Municipal Corporation will provide around Rs. 4 crore to optimize water usage and ensure uninterrupted water supply to residents.
Representatives from the Electricity Department proposed the underground laying of power cables in select areas and the upgradation of transformers to prevent power interruptions and improve service reliability.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) 0.1, 371 houses have been approved, while 32 applications have been received under PMAY 2.0. Council members emphasized that eligible citizens should submit applications by February 10 to avail of the housing benefits.
In preparation for the upcoming International Shivratri Mela 2026, the Municipal Corporation has begun restoration and painting work at the deity seating areas and across the city. Tenders have also been issued for sanitation work to ensure cleanliness during the fair. Additionally, the Public Works Department will soon construct a footpath near Paddal Police Station to improve pedestrian infrastructure.
The council approved a proposal to resubmit the one-time rebate scheme for electricity and water connections to the state government, aiming to make essential services more accessible to residents.
The meeting demonstrated the Municipal Corporation’s commitment to transparency, prioritization, and efficient execution of development projects, ensuring that the city’s residents receive improved facilities and services.
