CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu Directs Clearance of Contractors’ Pending Bills up to Rs. 20 Lakh.
Shimla:
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has directed the Finance Department to clear all pending bills of contractors up to Rs. 20 lakh on a priority basis across the State. The directive covers outstanding payments related to various departments, including the Public Works Department (PWD) and the Jal Shakti Vibhag.
According to a spokesperson of the Finance Department, payments amounting to approximately Rs. 225 crore will be released shortly to eligible contractors. The move is expected to provide significant financial relief, particularly to small and medium contractors who have been awaiting clearance of their dues.
The spokesperson stated that the decision aims to ease the financial burden on contractors and ensure that developmental works continue without disruption. By expediting the release of pending payments, the State Government seeks to accelerate the pace of infrastructure projects and maintain momentum in public works execution.
Officials believe that timely disbursal of funds will not only strengthen the financial stability of contractors but also contribute to the smooth and uninterrupted implementation of ongoing development projects across Himachal Pradesh.
