Prime Minister Narendra Modi Inaugurates Rs. 11,000 Crore Development Projects in Ernakulam, Keralam.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated and dedicated multiple high-impact development projects worth approximately Rs. 11,000 crore in Ernakulam, aimed at promoting industrial growth, boosting tourism, and enhancing ease of living for the people of Keralam. The projects span sectors including petroleum, renewable energy, transport, and urban infrastructure, reflecting the central government’s focus on holistic regional development.
During his visit to Kochi, the Prime Minister emphasized that the Polypropylene Unit at Kochi Refinery, whose foundation stone was laid today, will produce four lakh tonnes annually to support the packaging, textile, and medical device industries. Modi stated that the expansion of the petroleum sector is crucial for Make in India and building a self-reliant India.
Highlighting the strategic importance of infrastructure investment, the Prime Minister said, “Today, the world praises India for its investments in modern infrastructure. This year’s Union Budget has also allocated record funds for infrastructure, and Keralam is reaping tremendous benefits from these initiatives.”
In line with India’s push for sustainable energy, Modi laid the foundation stone for a 50 MW Floating Solar Project at West Kallada. With numerous water bodies across Keralam, the state holds immense potential for floating solar power, and the project is expected to accelerate renewable energy generation while contributing to the state’s green growth.
Prime Minister Modi also detailed significant improvements in regional connectivity under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme and railway electrification initiatives. Upgrades at Shoranur Junction, Kuttipuram, and Changanassery, along with the introduction of the new Palakkad–Pollachi train service, are set to enhance travel efficiency for residents of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
On road infrastructure, the Prime Minister highlighted the six-lane Kozhikode Bypass and improved connectivity to Azhikkal Port, which will reduce travel time, ease congestion, and benefit farmers, tourism, and other industries in the state. Modi emphasized that these projects serve as catalysts for large-scale employment and regional economic growth.
Concluding his address, Modi reiterated that the projects are pivotal in fulfilling the government’s vision of a “Viksit Keralam” and reaffirmed his confidence in the state’s future growth through multi-sectoral development initiatives.
The Prime Minister’s visit reflects the central government’s continued commitment to investing in modern infrastructure, industrial expansion, renewable energy, and regional connectivity to ensure sustainable growth and prosperity in Keralam.
