Shimla:

In a significant move aimed at strengthening the welfare of traditional artisans, the management committee of Bhuttico in Kullu district convened a meeting at its premises and approved a series of pro-weaver decisions, including a 10% increase in wages.

The meeting was chaired by Bhuttico Chairman Satya Prakash Thakur, who led discussions on various measures focused on the welfare of weavers, employees, and the overall growth of the organization.

One of the key highlights of the meeting was the approval of a 10% wage hike for weavers, which will come into effect from April 1, 2026. This decision is expected to directly benefit thousands of artisans associated with the cooperative, providing a boost to their income and livelihood.

In addition to the wage increase, the committee also approved promotions for 15 employees working within the organization. Furthermore, 22 employees who have been serving in the same position for eight years will receive special pay increments, recognizing their long-term contribution and dedication.

The meeting also included discussions on the audit report for the financial year 2024–25, which was formally reviewed and approved by the committee. Another important decision taken was to organize the birth anniversary celebration of Ved Ram Thakur, associated with an international award in his name.

To strengthen its market presence and export capabilities, Bhuttico also decided to renew its memberships with the Handloom Export Promotion Council and the Wool and Woollen Export Promotion Council.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Satya Prakash Thakur expressed confidence that these decisions would not only improve the economic condition of weavers in the region but also encourage more people to join the profession. He added that the measures are likely to contribute to the steady growth of Bhuttico’s business in the coming years.

The meeting concluded on an optimistic note, with a strong focus on inclusive growth, artisan welfare, and expansion of the cooperative’s footprint in both domestic and international markets.
