US President Donald Trump Announces Conditional Two-Week Ceasefire with Iran Following Talks with Pakistan Leadership.

Washington, D.C.:

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a conditional suspension of military strikes against Iran for a period of two weeks, signaling a major potential breakthrough in ongoing tensions in the Middle East.

According to the statement, the decision follows discussions with Shehbaz Sharif and Asim Munir, who urged restraint and diplomatic engagement. Acting on these conversations, Trump agreed to halt planned military actions, contingent upon the Iran ensuring the complete, immediate, and safe reopening of the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.

Describing the move as a “double-sided ceasefire,” Trump emphasized that the United States has already achieved and surpassed its key military objectives in the region. He added that Washington is now close to finalizing a long-term peace agreement with Iran, aimed at stabilizing the broader Middle East.

A central element of the ongoing negotiations is a 10-point proposal submitted by Iran, which U.S. officials believe provides a viable framework for reaching a comprehensive agreement. Trump stated that most major points of contention between the two nations have already been resolved, with the proposed two-week pause intended to allow both sides to finalize and formalize the deal.

The U.S. President also noted that the agreement is being shaped not only in the interest of the United States but also in coordination with key Middle Eastern partners, reflecting a broader regional push for lasting peace and security.

If successful, the ceasefire and subsequent agreement could mark a significant turning point in U.S.-Iran relations, which have long been characterized by conflict and mistrust. However, the situation remains fluid, with the outcome heavily dependent on Iran’s immediate actions and the success of ongoing diplomatic efforts.
