Israel Appoints Tzipi Hotovely as Head of National Public Diplomacy Directorate.

Jerusalem:

The Government of Israel has unanimously approved the appointment of Tzipi Hotovely as the new Head of the National Public Diplomacy Directorate in the Prime Minister’s Office, following a proposal by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The decision, endorsed by all ministers, reflects strong government backing for Hotovely’s leadership in a role considered critical for shaping and promoting Israel’s global image. She is scheduled to formally assume office on May 5, 2026.

Hotovely brings extensive experience in public service and international diplomacy. A trained lawyer with both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in law, she has held several key positions in the Israeli government, including Minister of Settlement, Minister of Diaspora Affairs, and Deputy Foreign Minister. Most recently, she served as Israel’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, where she played a prominent role in strengthening bilateral relations and representing Israeli interests abroad.

Throughout her career, Hotovely has been actively engaged in public diplomacy efforts, frequently appearing in international media and leading advocacy initiatives aimed at improving Israel’s global standing. Her work has been particularly visible during periods of conflict, where she contributed to articulating the country’s position on the world stage.

The appointment follows a formal recommendation by the Appointments Committee, chaired by the Civil Service Commissioner. The committee reviewed her candidacy last week and subsequently endorsed her selection, paving the way for final government approval.

Senior officials, including the Prime Minister and cabinet ministers, welcomed the decision and expressed confidence in Hotovely’s ability to lead the National Public Diplomacy Directorate effectively during a crucial period for Israel’s international engagement.

Her appointment is expected to play a significant role in enhancing Israel’s strategic communications and strengthening its outreach efforts across global platforms.
