Evian, France:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed the Outreach Session on “Reviving a Balanced, Shared and Sustainable Economic Growth for All” at the G7 Summit in Evian, France, emphasizing the need for inclusive development, global cooperation and sustainable economic progress amid growing global uncertainties.

Appreciating the Summit’s focus on shared and sustainable growth, Modi said the message of balanced development would resonate across the world at a time when nations are facing economic challenges, geopolitical tensions and multiple uncertainties. He stressed that growth should not be measured solely through GDP figures or trade statistics but by its impact on people’s lives, social inclusion and overall well-being.

Highlighting India’s development model, the Prime Minister said the country’s growth journey has been guided by the principles of “Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas” (Together with all, Development for all, Trust of all and Effort of all). He noted that this approach has enabled India to pursue inclusive and people-centric development while ensuring broader participation in economic progress.

Modi said the same philosophy has shaped India’s engagement with the international community. Referring to India’s G20 Presidency, he recalled the theme “One Earth, One Family, One Future,” which underscored the importance of collective action and shared responsibility in addressing global challenges.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), describing it as a transformative initiative aimed at strengthening supply chains, promoting investments, creating employment opportunities and fostering innovation across regions. He said such connectivity projects can serve as catalysts for economic integration and sustainable growth.

Drawing attention to the challenges faced by developing nations, Modi said conflicts, crises and economic disruptions have had a severe impact on countries of the Global South. He called for greater international solidarity and urged the global community to work together to reduce the burden on vulnerable economies.

He further suggested that international financial institutions should develop support mechanisms capable of enhancing the economic resilience of developing countries, enabling them to better withstand future shocks and uncertainties.

In a significant proposal, the Prime Minister advocated the expansion of connectivity initiatives to Africa, Latin America and Pacific Island nations on the lines of IMEC. To achieve this objective, he proposed the creation of an “International Mobilization Partnership for Accelerating Connectivity and Trade” (IMPACT).

According to Modi, the proposed IMPACT initiative could bring together the financial resources of G7 nations, India’s talent and expertise, and the ownership and participation of countries from the Global South. Such a framework, he said, would help accelerate connectivity projects, boost trade and create new opportunities for economic development across emerging regions.

Reaffirming India’s commitment to a stable, trusted and prosperous global economy, Modi said the country remains committed to integration, partnership and shared progress. He noted that this vision has inspired India to pursue trade agreements with G7 countries as well as several other nations, strengthening economic cooperation and promoting mutual growth.

The Prime Minister’s remarks highlighted India’s growing role in shaping global economic discussions and advocating for a more inclusive, resilient and sustainable development framework that benefits both developed and developing nations.
