Shimla:

A grand and dignified Investiture and Leadership Conferment Ceremony was organised at Indus Global School amid an atmosphere filled with enthusiasm, patriotism, and inspiration. The prestigious event witnessed the formal appointment of newly elected student office bearers, including the Head Boy, Head Girl, House Captains, Prefects, Discipline Captains, Cultural Captains, and other student leaders.

The ceremony’s chief guest, Flying Officer Dr. Chaman Lal Kranti Singh, inspired students, teachers, parents, and NCC cadets through a powerful and thought-provoking address centered on leadership, discipline, responsibility, and national service.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Chaman congratulated the newly appointed student leaders and emphasized that leadership positions are not merely symbols of prestige or authority but represent responsibility, trust, service, discipline, and character. He remarked that the badges, sashes, and nameplates conferred upon the students symbolized the school’s confidence in their abilities and leadership potential.

Drawing inspiration from the name “Indus,” he connected the institution with the glorious legacy of the ancient Indus Valley Civilization and urged students to remain proud of their heritage.

“You are not ordinary students; you are the proud inheritors of one of the greatest civilizations in human history,” he stated.

He further encouraged students to build their lives on the foundations of honesty, dedication, discipline, self-confidence, and continuous effort. Stressing the importance of perseverance, he said that while dreaming big is essential, determination and patience are equally important in transforming dreams into reality.

During his speech, the NCC officer highlighted the inspiring contributions of great national personalities including Gautama Buddha, Subhas Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, B. R. Ambedkar, and Sam Manekshaw. He encouraged students to imbibe the values of patriotism, courage, leadership, and moral integrity from their lives.

Referring to the motto of the National Cadet Corps — “Unity and Discipline” — he urged students to adopt discipline as the guiding principle of their lives.

“Talent may provide opportunities, but discipline takes a person to the highest levels of success,” he said.

Addressing the newly elected office bearers, Dr. Chaman emphasized that a true leader is one who leads by example and prioritizes the welfare and dignity of others above personal comfort.

He also referred to the renowned Chetwode Credo of the Indian Military Academy and highlighted its timeless message of service and sacrifice:

“The safety, honour and welfare of your country come first, always and every time.
The honour, welfare and comfort of the men you command come next.
Your own ease, comfort and safety come last, always and every time.”

He described the credo as the foundation of true leadership and dedication to the nation.

On the occasion, School Managing Director Bharti Bhatia and Principal Sonia Panwar honoured the Chief Guest with a token of appreciation on behalf of the institution.

The ceremony also featured an impressive ceremonial salute presented by NCC cadets and marching contingents representing various school houses. The Chief Guest formally conferred badges, sashes, and nameplates upon student leaders from both junior and senior divisions.

As a symbolic gesture reflecting the highest ideals of military leadership, Flying Officer Dr. Chaman presented commemorative mementoes to Ms. Bharti Bhatia and Ms. Sonia Panwar.

Adding cultural vibrancy and patriotic spirit to the event, students presented colourful performances that filled the atmosphere with pride and enthusiasm.

The programme concluded on a patriotic and inspirational note, with students pledging to uphold the values of discipline, leadership, service, and excellence in every sphere of life.

Among those present at the ceremony were Programme Coordinator Divya Dhawan, Caretaker Officer Pramod, former Senior Under Officer Pankaj Kumar, Cadet Paritosh, Cadet Ayush, faculty members, parents, and hundreds of students.
