Trump Proposes Destruction of Iran’s Enriched Uranium Under International Oversight.

Washington DC:

US President Donald J Trump has announced a proposal regarding Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile, suggesting that the material should either be transferred to the United States for destruction or eliminated under international supervision in coordination with the Iranian government.

In a strongly worded statement, Trump referred to the enriched uranium as “nuclear dust” and said the material must be dealt with immediately to prevent any potential nuclear threat.

“The Enriched Uranium (Nuclear Dust!) will either be immediately turned over to the United States to be brought home and destroyed or, preferably, in conjunction and coordination with the Islamic Republic of Iran, destroyed in place or, at another acceptable location,” Trump stated.

He further emphasized that the process should take place under the observation of the Atomic Energy Commission or an equivalent international authority to ensure transparency and verification.

The statement has sparked fresh debate over the future of Iran’s nuclear program and the role of international monitoring agencies in overseeing nuclear materials in the region. Trump’s remarks come amid continued global concern over uranium enrichment activities by Iran and ongoing diplomatic tensions surrounding nuclear negotiations.

While Trump did not provide additional operational details, the proposal appears aimed at strengthening international oversight and limiting the possibility of nuclear weapon development. The statement also suggests potential cooperation between Washington and Tehran, despite years of strained relations between the two nations.

Analysts say the proposal could face major diplomatic and logistical challenges, particularly regarding sovereignty issues, international agreements, and the involvement of nuclear watchdog organizations.

The comments are expected to draw reactions from global powers, including members of the International Atomic Energy Agency, as discussions over nuclear security and Middle East stability continue.
