Shimla:
Demonstrating remarkable courage, endurance, and teamwork, a group of 42 students from DAV CPS Mandi successfully completed an adventurous training camp organized under the guidance of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (ABVIMAS). The students recently returned after accomplishing the challenging expedition, which provided them with invaluable outdoor learning experiences and life skills.
During the camp, participants immersed themselves in nature and underwent rigorous training in various adventure activities. They learned essential survival and wilderness skills, including river crossing, rock climbing, rappelling, jungle craft, and other outdoor techniques designed to enhance their confidence and resilience.
The highlight of the expedition was the successful summit of Patalsu Peak, located at an elevation of approximately 10,500 feet above sea level. Despite the demanding terrain and high-altitude conditions, the students displayed exceptional determination and perseverance to reach the summit, bringing pride to their school and community.
Expressing his happiness over the achievement, Principal K. S. Guleria congratulated all the students for their outstanding performance. He praised their unwavering courage, disciplined approach, and strong team spirit throughout the expedition. He emphasized that such adventure-based learning programs play a vital role in the holistic development of students by helping them build self-confidence, leadership qualities, cooperation, and the ability to face challenges in adverse situations.

The principal further stated that experiences beyond classroom learning are essential in shaping well-rounded individuals and preparing young minds to tackle real-life challenges effectively.
Throughout the camp, the students were accompanied and guided by the school’s Physical Education Teacher, Sushil Sen, and Yoga Teacher, Suman, who ensured their safety and provided continuous support during the activities and trek.
The adventure camp proved to be a memorable and inspiring journey for the participants. Besides testing their physical endurance, it offered them a unique opportunity to connect with nature, develop practical life skills, and gain confidence through firsthand experience in the mountains.
The successful completion of the Patalsu Peak expedition stands as a testament to the students’ determination and the school’s commitment to promoting experiential learning and adventure-based education.
