Marking the International Day of Yoga with enthusiasm and community participation, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today presided over the state-level celebration organized by the Department of Ayush at the Synthetic Track Ground of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) in Anu.

The event witnessed the participation of nearly 2,000 people, including senior citizens, youth, women and children, who joined the Chief Minister in a collective yoga session aimed at promoting physical, mental and spiritual well-being.

The Chief Minister inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp and offering prayers to Lord Dhanvantari, revered as the deity of Ayurveda and health. He later participated in a yoga session lasting approximately 45 minutes, performing various yoga asanas and practices alongside the attendees.

On the occasion, Chief Minister Sukhu also released a special booklet dedicated to the International Day of Yoga. The publication provides a concise compilation of important information on various yoga postures, breathing techniques and wellness practices, highlighting the benefits of incorporating yoga into daily life.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister emphasized the significance of yoga as an invaluable gift of India’s ancient heritage to the world. He encouraged people from all age groups to adopt yoga as a regular part of their lifestyle to maintain good health, reduce stress and foster overall well-being.

The state-level event reflected the growing popularity of yoga across Himachal Pradesh and underscored the government’s commitment to promoting holistic health and wellness through traditional practices.

Among those present on the occasion were Ayush, Law, Youth Services and Sports Minister Yadvinder Goma; MLAs Suresh Kumar and Captain Ranjit Singh; Chairman of the State Agricultural Marketing Board Kuldeep Singh Pathania; Chairman of the Kangra Cooperative Primary Agriculture and Rural Development Bank Ram Chandra Pathania; Coordinator and Advisor of the State Drug Prevention Board Naresh Thakur; Vice Chairman of the OBC Finance and Development Corporation Dr. Mohan Lal; OBC Commission member Rajeev Rana; Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee Chairman Ajay Sharma; Congress District President Suman Bharti; senior party leaders Dr. Pushpendra Verma and Subhash Dhatwalia; Ayush Department Secretary Shainamol; Director Rohit Jamwal; Deputy Commissioner Gandharva Rathore; Superintendent of Police Balveer Singh and other senior officials and dignitaries.
