Cloudburst Triggers Landslides, Heavy Losses to Orchardists in Burwa Panchayat in Kullu.
Shimla:
A delegation of public representatives yesterday visited Burwa Panchayat in Kullu district to assess the damage caused to orchards following a cloudburst that struck the area two days ago. The team inspected the affected sites and interacted with orchardists who suffered significant losses due to landslides triggered by the heavy rainfall.
The delegation included former minister Govind Singh Thakur, Zila Parishad Chairman Thakur Dass, Burwa Panchayat Pradhan Reena Thakur, former Pradhan Anokh Ram Mehta, former Panchayat Samiti member Jeet Ram, BJP Mandal General Secretary Sunil Karwa, Panna Mahant and Ses Ram Bhardwaj.

According to BDC Naggar Chairman Ved Ram Thakur, the cloudburst caused extensive damage to orchards, with landslides affecting agricultural land and threatening the livelihood of several fruit growers in the area. He said the delegation visited the affected villages to assess the extent of the losses and assured orchardists that their concerns would be taken up with the authorities.

Ved Ram Thakur said the issue would be raised during the upcoming Zila Parishad meeting, where a demand for adequate compensation for the affected orchardists would be placed before the administration. He urged the government to provide timely financial assistance and relief measures to help the affected families recover from the losses.
