Himachal Pradesh Government Releases Rs. 83.85 Crore for Advanced Healthcare Facilities Across State.

The Himachal Pradesh government has announced a major expansion of advanced healthcare infrastructure, with Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu releasing Rs. 83.85 crore for modern diagnostic equipment, specialised treatment facilities and hospital infrastructure across the state.
The investment includes a SPECT machine and Cell Separator for Bone Marrow Transplantation at IGMC Shimla, six high-end ultrasound machines each for IGMC Shimla and Dr. RPGMC Tanda, a 256-slice CT scan machine for IGMC Shimla and construction of a PET Scan building at Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College, Nerchowk.
SPECT and Cell Separator to Strengthen Specialised Treatment at IGMC
An amount of Rs. 8 crore has been released for the procurement of a Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) machine and a Cell Separator for Bone Marrow Transplantation at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla.
The SPECT machine is an advanced diagnostic system capable of producing three-dimensional images that help doctors assess the functioning of organs and tissues. It can support the diagnosis and evaluation of diseases affecting the heart, brain, bones, lungs and kidneys, besides assisting in the assessment of certain cancers and other medical conditions.
The Cell Separator will facilitate the collection of peripheral blood stem cells from donors or patients after appropriate stimulation. The collected stem cells can subsequently be processed, counted and prepared for transplantation, stored when necessary and later infused into recipients following conditioning treatment.
256-Slice CT Scan and Six High-End Ultrasound Machines for IGMC
The state government has released Rs. 14 crore for the procurement of six high-end ultrasound machines at IGMC Shimla and the upgradation of CTL Kandaghat.
An additional Rs. 3.50 crore has been sanctioned for the procurement of two X-ray machines, including analogue and digital systems.
Another Rs. 12 crore has been released for the procurement of a 256-slice CT scan machine at IGMC Shimla. The advanced diagnostic equipment is expected to strengthen the institution’s diagnostic capacity and streamline investigations and procedures.
The government said the upgraded facilities would help patients access diagnostic services more efficiently and reduce waiting times for reports and investigations.
Six High-End Ultrasound Machines for Tanda Medical College
At Dr. RPGMC Tanda in Kangra, the government has released Rs. 6 crore for the procurement of six high-end ultrasound machines.
The equipment is expected to improve diagnostic capabilities at the medical college and provide patients with access to advanced imaging facilities within the state.
PET Scan Building Planned at Nerchowk
The government has also sanctioned Rs. 2 crore for construction of a PET Scan building at Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College, Nerchowk, Mandi.
The proposed facility is aimed at strengthening Himachal Pradesh’s capacity to provide advanced diagnostic and treatment services and reduce the need for patients to travel outside the state for specialised medical care.
Funds Released for Hospitals and Medical Infrastructure
In addition to advanced diagnostic equipment, the government has allocated funds for strengthening healthcare infrastructure at several other locations.
An amount of Rs. 17.95 crore has been released for Civil Hospital Jawalamukhi in Kangra district, including provisions for water and power supply to the hospital.
The government has also allocated Rs. 4.90 crore for construction of residential accommodation for doctors and staff nurses at Civil Hospital Joginder Nagar.
For Medical College Jolsappar in Hamirpur, Rs. 12 crore has been sanctioned for parking facilities. Another Rs. 3.50 crore has been allocated for construction of a police station at the medical college, along with provisions related to the SDAMO office and hospital facilities at Ghumarwin in Bilaspur district.
Focus on Advanced Healthcare Within Himachal
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said the state government was making concerted efforts to provide quality healthcare facilities to people within Himachal Pradesh and reduce the need for patients to travel outside the state for advanced treatment.
He said the government was committed to strengthening public health infrastructure across Himachal Pradesh and ensuring that people, particularly those living in rural and remote areas, have access to modern, affordable and quality healthcare facilities closer to their homes.
The latest funding package is expected to significantly expand the state’s diagnostic and specialised treatment capacity, while improving healthcare infrastructure at major medical institutions and hospitals across Himachal Pradesh.
