PM Modi Highlights Annapurna Yojana as Major Boost for Women in West Bengal.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday addressed a gathering in West Bengal through video conferencing during the release of an instalment under the Annapurna Yojana, describing the scheme as a significant step towards strengthening women’s financial empowerment in the state.
Modi said the Annapurna Yojana is aimed at providing greater financial support and decision-making power to women. He said regular financial assistance can help beneficiaries meet essential household expenses, purchase medicines and support their children’s education while reducing financial pressures.
During the programme, the Prime Minister said the fourth instalment of ₹3,000 was being transferred to the bank accounts of approximately 1.5 crore women. He stressed that the government’s objective is to ensure that no eligible woman is excluded from the scheme’s benefits.
Highlighting the importance of women in Bengal’s social and economic development, Modi said improving their ease of living remains a key priority of the government. He also said welfare programmes should reach beneficiaries directly through transparent mechanisms.
The Prime Minister outlined several initiatives aimed at supporting women at different stages of life, including the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao, Ujjwala, Har Ghar Jal, Ayushman Bharat and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
He also referred to Mudra loans, increased maternity leave, construction of school toilets, Sainik Schools for girls and joint ownership provisions under PM Awas Yojana as measures intended to strengthen women’s opportunities and security.
Modi said the government is accelerating implementation of welfare programmes in West Bengal. He announced that more than 50 lakh newly identified poor families in the state would soon receive permanent houses under the PM Awas Yojana. He also highlighted the implementation of the PM Vishwakarma Yojana.
Emphasising the connection between the development of West Bengal and the national development agenda, Modi said the strength of a developed Bengal would further strengthen the resolve of a developed India.
The Prime Minister also extended greetings to the people of West Bengal on Vishwakarma Puja and Annapurna Diwas, while thanking women beneficiaries and citizens for their support.
