CM Flags Off Anti-Chitta Rally in Rohru, Calls for Collective Fight Against Drugs.

Shimla:

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Thursday flagged off an Anti-Chitta Rally from the Government Senior Secondary School in Rohru, leading students and participants in a strong public awareness campaign against drug abuse.

The Chief Minister personally joined the rally and walked alongside students, spreading the message of staying away from drugs and encouraging young people to play an active role in building a drug-free society.

As the rally passed through the Rohru market, the area echoed with slogans such as “Nasha Chhoro, Zindagi Se Naata Joro”, as a large number of students participated in the awareness drive. The participants highlighted the harmful effects of Chitta and other drugs and urged people, particularly youngsters, to stay away from substance abuse.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said the state government was taking strict action against the drug mafia and made it clear that there was no place in Himachal Pradesh for those involved in the illegal drug trade.

He said the fight against drugs could not be limited to government agencies alone and required the collective participation of every section of society. Families, educational institutions, community organisations and young people all have an important role in preventing drug abuse and spreading awareness about its harmful consequences, he added.

The Chief Minister said Anti-Chitta rallies and awareness programmes were being organised across Himachal Pradesh to educate young people and the general public about the dangers associated with Chitta and other drugs. Such programmes, he said, were aimed at encouraging youngsters to make healthy choices and remain away from substance abuse.

Emphasising the role of youth in the campaign, Sukhu said young people could become effective ambassadors of the anti-drug message and help create greater awareness among their peers and within their communities.

Earlier, the Chief Minister administered the Anti-Chitta Pledge to the students and urged them to stay away from drugs. He also called upon them to take an active role in spreading awareness and contributing towards the goal of making society drug-free.

During the event, the Chief Minister interacted with students, took selfies with the children and encouraged them to participate actively in the campaign against drugs.

MLA Mohan Lal Brakta, Co-Chairman of the Drug Prevention Board Sanjay Bhardwaj, Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap, Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh, along with other dignitaries, officials and participants, were present on the occasion.
