Himachal Pradesh Government Prioritizes Road Expansion with Rs. 300 Crore Allocation.

Shimla:

Public Works Department and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh has announced a major commitment to road infrastructure expansion in Himachal Pradesh, revealing a substantial allocation of Rs. 300 crore from the central government for various projects. A significant focus will be on a newly approved Rs. 20 crore project in the Karsog subdivision of Mandi district.

During a recent briefing in Mandi, Singh addressed the impact of last year’s severe rains, which damaged critical road bridges, including Koon Ka Tar, Pandoh, Aut, and Gutkar. Restoration efforts are already underway for the Koon Ka Tar bridge, with plans to repair the other affected structures soon.

To improve overall infrastructure in Mandi, Singh directed local officials to draft a proposal for a comprehensive development project, potentially covering sanitation and waste management. He intends to present this proposal to Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar for approval.

Acknowledging the financial challenges the state faces, Singh highlighted the government’s strategic decisions to enhance revenue, including adjustments to excise and mining policies and the withdrawal of subsidies for large industries and five-star hotels.

In a bid to engage directly with constituents, Singh hosted a grievance camp, encouraging residents to voice their concerns regarding various departmental issues. He pledged to communicate these matters to the relevant ministers for prompt resolution.

“These initiatives aim to bolster road connectivity and public services while strengthening revenue generation to support ongoing development in the state,” Singh stated.
