Tragedy Strikes in Jigawa Nigeria: Petrol Tanker Explosion Claims 90 Lives, Leaves 50 Injured.

A devastating petrol tanker explosion in Majia Town, Taura local government area, has resulted in 90 confirmed deaths and 50 injuries. The incident occurred late Tuesday night when the tanker driver lost control near Khadija University, leading to a catastrophic explosion.

According to Shi’isu Adam, the Police Spokesperson in Jigawa Nigeria, the driver was en route from Kano to Nguru in Yobe when the accident occurred at approximately 11:30 PM. Adam emphasized the dangers of gathering around accident scenes, noting that the large number of casualties was exacerbated by bystanders who failed to heed police warnings.

“People gathered around the accident scene, and that is the reason for the mass casualty,” Adam stated.

The injured individuals have been taken to Ringim General Hospital for medical attention, while plans for a mass burial of the victims were scheduled for 9 AM on Wednesday. Local authorities continue to express concerns over public safety in light of this tragic event.
