CM Sukhu Dedicates Rs. 76.31 Crore in Development Projects at Jogindernagar in Mandi.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several significant developmental projects worth Rs. 76.31 crore in the Jogindernagar Assembly constituency of Mandi district. This initiative aims to enhance infrastructure and public services in the region.
Among the projects inaugurated was the newly constructed B and D block of the Mini Secretariat building, completed at a cost of Rs. 23.90 crore. The Chief Minister also dedicated a Rs. 10.50 crore auditorium at Government College Jogindernagar and a bridge over Rana Khad on the Jogindernagar-Sarkaghat-Ghumarwin road, costing Rs. 8 crore. Additional projects included a drinking water scheme in Gram Panchayats Pasal and Sagnehad, valued at Rs. 3.70 crore.
The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for multiple other initiatives, including the improvement and expansion of the old drinking water supply scheme in various areas, costing Rs. 13.66 crore, and channelization projects in village Dol at a cost of Rs. 7.10 crore. A bridge on Sarohli-Sukkad Khad was also announced, with an estimated cost of Rs. 2.24 crore.
In a significant move for women’s empowerment, Sukhu launched the Dei 2.0 program, recognizing the contributions of daughters from Mandi district. Seven girls were honored with incentives of Rs. 10,000 each under this initiative.
Addressing a large gathering at Mela Ground, Sukhu promised that the state government would fully fund the construction of 32 roads in the Jogindernagar constituency. He also assured the appointment of doctors at Jogindernagar Hospital and the construction of residential facilities for healthcare staff. Plans for a new building at Makredi school and the introduction of new trades at ITI Jogindernagar were also announced.
The Chief Minister committed to building additional infrastructure, including a bridge at Bharmera-Banog and a Bailey bridge along the Chhamb Kuthehra Baddu road. He also pledged financial support of Rs. 20,000 each to Mahila Mandals in the area.
Sukhu emphasized the state government’s commitment to making Himachal Pradesh self-reliant, noting the purchase of wheat and maize crops through natural farming at favorable rates. He highlighted increases in the minimum support prices for milk as evidence of the government’s focus on supporting the agricultural community.
In response to the damage caused by last year’s monsoon disasters, the government allocated Rs. 2.26 crore for rehabilitation in Jogindernagar.
Regarding the Shanan Hydel Project, Sukhu confirmed that the state government is engaged in a strong legal battle in the Supreme Court to reclaim the project, which was leased to the Punjab Government for 99 years. He stated that if the Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) does not agree to the state’s terms, the government would proceed to acquire several other hydroelectric projects.
Criticizing the previous administration, Sukhu accused the “double engine government of BJP” of financial irregularities from 2017 to 2022, claiming that the current government has implemented effective measures for financial discipline. He condemned the BJP for distributing large sums in subsidies for political gain, while asserting that the Congress government has rationalized subsidies without burdening the common man.
Sukhu reiterated his determination to protect the state’s financial interests, stating, “I will not let the wealth of the state be looted.” He encouraged local support for State Congress Secretary Jeevan Thakur, praising his dedication to serving the community.
The event saw a warm reception from local residents and was attended by various dignitaries, including Chief Parliamentary Secretary Kishori Lal, Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania, Dharampur MLA Chander Shekhar, Former Minister Prakash Chaudhary, Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee Intelectual Cell Chairman Vijay Pal Singh, APMC Chairman Sanjeev Geleria and others.
