Vallabh Government College, Mandi Wins Overall Championship in Inter-College Wushu Competition.

The three-day Inter-College Wushu Competition, organized by Himachal Pradesh University, concluded today at Vallabh Government College, Mandi. The event, held from December 17 to 19, saw enthusiastic participation from athletes representing 18 colleges, including 10 women’s teams and 17 men’s teams.
The closing ceremony was graced by principal Sanjay Sharma as the Chief Guest. The Principal emphasized the significance of sports in the overall development of students.
Vallabh Government College, Mandi emerged as the overall champion in both men’s and women’s categories. In the men’s category, VGC Mandi clinched 30 medals, while in the women’s category, they bagged 24 medals. Government College Kullu secured second place in the men’s category with 17 medals, while MLSM Sundernagar and Government College Solan shared third place with 12 medals each. In the women’s category, MLSM Sundernagar won second place with 13 medals, and Government College Sanjauli took third place with 10 medals.
The competition featured various weight categories with winners from different colleges. Some of the notable gold medalists included Anamika Sharma (Namdhari College, Sundernagar) in the 45kg category, Jyoti (MLSM Sundernagar) in the 48kg category, and Rahul Thakur (VGC Mandi) in the 48kg men’s category. Gold medals were also won by Aryan Sood (GC Sanjauli) and Chand (GC Kullu) in the respective categories, while several athletes from VGC Mandi, MLSM Sundernagar, and other colleges also took home silver and bronze medals.
This competition not only highlighted the athletic talent from various colleges but also underscored the importance of sports in nurturing well-rounded students.
