New Delhi:

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, today chaired a high-level review meeting on the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in New Delhi. The meeting was attended by senior officials, including the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary, the Director of the Intelligence Bureau, J&K’s Chief Secretary, and Director General of Police, among other key officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the J&K administration.

This meeting comes after another important review held by Amit Shah yesterday, which included senior military and security leaders, such as the Chief of the Army Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi. Both sessions focused on evaluating the ongoing security efforts and discussing strategies to counter terrorism in the region.

In his address, Union Home Minister Amit Shah reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to eradicate terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir. Shah noted that, due to sustained and coordinated efforts by the Modi government, the terrorist ecosystem in J&K has been significantly weakened, but he emphasized that much work remains to fully eliminate this threat.

One of the key directives issued by Amit Shah was for all security agencies to intensify their operations aimed at achieving the goal of ‘zero infiltration.’ He highlighted the need for more rigorous actions against both infiltration and terrorism, calling for a no-compromise, ruthless approach to dismantle terrorist networks operating within the region.

The Home Minister also pointed to the critical role played by narco-trafficking in financing terrorism, underlining the urgent need to clamp down on terror funding, which is often supported by proceeds from the narcotics trade. He instructed security agencies to act with speed and precision to disrupt these illicit activities.

Additionally, Amit Shah highlighted the necessity for bolstering J&K’s forensic capabilities to ensure swift enforcement of the new criminal laws. He called for timely appointments to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to support the ongoing legal framework and investigations.

In his concluding remarks, Amit Shah reaffirmed the Modi government’s ‘policy of zero tolerance’ towards terrorism, stressing that all agencies must remain vigilant and work in coordination to eliminate the terrorism threat from Jammu and Kashmir. He also praised the security forces for their recent successes, which have led to a notable improvement in the security situation across the region.

This meeting underscores the central government’s continued focus on maintaining peace and security in Jammu and Kashmir, with an emphasis on counter-terrorism measures and cracking down on criminal networks funding violence in the region.
