Three Independent MLAs resign from Himachal Vidhan Sabha.
Shimla:
In a fresh political twist in Himachal Pradesh, three Independent MLAs, who were elected in the last assembly elections, have resigned from the membership of HP Vidhan Sabha on Friday.
The three MLAs- Hoshiayar Singh elected from Dehra constituency, KL Thakur elected from Nalagarh and Ashish Sharma elected from Hamiprur constituency, accompanied by the leader of opposition Jai Ram Thakur, tendered their resignation to secretary of HP Vidhan Sabha at Shimla on Friday.
These three MLAs were earlier supporting the Congress government but they ditched it during the Rajya Sabha election and supported the BJP candidate Harsh Mahajan along with six Congress rebel MLAs. It led the defeat of Congress candidate Abhishek Manu Singhvi on Rajya Sabha seat from Himachal in recently held election at Shimla.
The resignations of these MLAs would lead to by-polls in three more Assembly constituencies along with by-polls in six constituencies and Lok Sabha election already announced by the Election Commission of India.
While tendering resignations, these three MLAs, accused Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for discriminating against their Assembly constituencies. They said no pressure has been wielded on them and they have full faith in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
However the CM refuted the allegations of these MLAs by saying that the state government has been carrying out uniform development in every part of the state.
The three independent vMLAs and six Congress rebel MLAs escorted by BJP leaders under strong security cover, have been kept away from Himachal Pradesh after the Rajya Sabha election. They have been travelling in choppers to Chandigarh, Haryana, Uttarakhand and New Delhi.
All of them had reportedly met the BJP leadership in New Delhi a few days back and there is speculation six Congress rebels may also join BJP any time.
Former Chief Minister and leader of opposition Jai Ram Thakur said that the Chief Minister and the Congress government did not understand the pain of the three independent MLAs. This is the reason why today all three have resigned from the post of MLA.
“All three MLAs have expressed confidence in the leadership and policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and have clearly said that today there is a need to further strengthen PM Modi in the center.
