In a meeting with a delegation from the Himachal Pradesh Kisan Sabha at Chaura Maidan, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu assured that the state government would ensure the protection of farmers from displacement at any cost. The Chief Minister, who met with former MLA Rakesh Singha and other members of the Kisan Sabha, expressed his commitment to prioritizing the welfare of farmers and orchardists in the state.

During the meeting, Rakesh Singha presented a memorandum on behalf of the Kisan Sabha, urging the government to address several concerns of farmers. Chief Minister Sukhu responded positively, emphasizing that ensuring the welfare of farmers was a key objective of the current state government.

One of the significant initiatives discussed was the provision of the Agriculture Loan Interest Subvention Scheme, which was included in the state budget. This scheme aims to prevent farmers’ land from being auctioned due to unpaid loans. Under the scheme, the state government plans to introduce a one-time settlement policy through banks, enabling farmers to repay agricultural loans of up to three lakh rupees. The government will cover 50 percent of the interest on the principal amount, and Rs 50 crore will be allocated to support this initiative.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the government was fully aware of the challenges faced by farmers and assured that all efforts would be made to address their grievances and provide relief. He also thanked the delegation for their constructive suggestions and feedback.

The meeting was attended by Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi, Education Minister Rohit Thakur, and Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani, all of whom expressed their commitment to supporting the agricultural community and resolving issues related to farming in the state. The government’s proactive approach aims to ensure the economic stability and security of farmers, who are a vital part of Himachal Pradesh’s economy.
