BJP Chief Spokesperson Rakesh Jamwal criticise state Government  for delay in payment of Rs 14 Crore Himcare Dues to PGI Chandigarh.

Shimla:

BJP’s chief spokesperson Rakesh Jamwal has raised serious concerns over the Himachal Pradesh government’s delay in clearing Rs 14 crore in pending payments to PGI Chandigarh under the Himcare scheme. He urged the state government to take immediate action to resolve the matter and ensure uninterrupted treatment for patients, especially those from economically weaker sections.

Jamwal said the Himcare scheme has been crucial in providing free medical care to thousands of underprivileged individuals across the state. However, he pointed out that the current Congress-led government has not prioritized the scheme since coming into power.

He stated that despite the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the state government and PGI on February 25, 2024, the pending dues have not been paid even after a year. As a result, the treatment of nearly 1,478 patients has been affected.

“This delay reflects administrative inefficiency and shows a lack of seriousness in addressing the healthcare needs of the poor,” Jamwal said. He added that when an institution like the Governing Board has to step in and instruct the government to make payments, it reflects poorly on the state’s administration.

He questioned whether public health, especially the treatment of the poor, remains a priority for the government. He emphasized that healthcare should be above politics and called on the Chief Minister to ensure that such delays do not happen in the future.

Jamwal also stated that the BJP would continue to highlight this issue and, if necessary, take it to the people. He warned that if payments are not made soon, the party will consider launching a public campaign to demand accountability.

He concluded by demanding the immediate clearance of the dues to PGI Chandigarh and the creation of a transparent and efficient system to ensure timely monthly payments under the Himcare scheme.
