PM Modi Set for Landmark Multi-State Visit on May 29–30: Rs 69,000+ Crore Development Push Across Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a high-impact two-day visit to Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh on 29th and 30th May 2025, to launch and inaugurate a series of infrastructure, energy, and public welfare projects worth over Rs 69,000 crore.
Day 1 – 29th May 2025
PM in Sikkim: Celebrating 50 Years of Statehood
Prime Minister Modi will begin his visit in Sikkim by participating in “Sikkim@50: Where Progress Meets Purpose and Nature Nurtures Growth” at 11:00 AM, commemorating five decades of the state’s formation. The event will showcase the theme “Sunaulo, Samriddha and Samarth Sikkim”, highlighting the state’s journey of sustainability and development.
Key highlights in Sikkim:
- Foundation stone laid for a 500-bedded District Hospital in Namchi (worth over Rs 750 crore).
- Inauguration of Passenger Ropeway at Sangachoeling, Pelling.
- Unveiling of Statue of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji at Sangkhola.
- Release of commemorative coin, souvenir coin, and stamp marking 50 years of Sikkim’s statehood.
PM in West Bengal: Expanding Clean Energy Access
At 2:15 PM, PM Modi will visit Alipurduar in West Bengal to lay the foundation stone for the City Gas Distribution (CGD) Project in Alipurduar and Cooch Behar districts.
Key project details:
- Worth over Rs 1,010 crore, the CGD network will provide PNG to 2.5 lakh households, over 100 industries and commercial units, and establish 19 CNG stations.
- Will drive green energy adoption, reduce carbon footprint, and generate local employment opportunities.
PM in Bihar: Upgrading Air Connectivity
Later in the day, at 5:45 PM, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the new terminal building at Patna Airport, built at a cost of Rs 1,200 crore to handle 1 crore passengers annually. He will also lay the foundation stone for a new civil enclave at Bihta Airport, worth over Rs 1,410 crore, further strengthening Bihar’s air connectivity.
Day 2 – 30th May 2025
PM in Karakat, Bihar: Rs 48,520 Crore Infrastructure Blitz
At 11:00 AM, the Prime Minister will visit Karakat to launch and dedicate a record Rs 48,520 crore worth of infrastructure projects.
Major announcements include:
- Rs 29,930 crore Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project (Stage-II, 3×800 MW), to bolster energy security in eastern India.
- Major national highway projects, including:
- Four-laning of Patna–Arrah–Sasaram section.
- Six-laning of Varanasi–Ranchi–Kolkata highway and Ramnagar–Kacchi Dargah stretch.
- New Ganga bridge between Buxar and Bharauli.
- Inauguration of four-laning of Patna–Gaya–Dobhi section (Rs 5,520 crore).
- Third rail line between Son Nagar–Mohammad Ganj (Rs 1,330 crore), boosting rail capacity and connectivity.
PM in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh: Rs 20,900 Crore for Urban, Power, and Transport Projects
At 2:45 PM, the Prime Minister will arrive in Kanpur Nagar, Uttar Pradesh to launch a series of major development projects.
Highlights include:
- Inauguration of the Chunniganj to Kanpur Central stretch of the Kanpur Metro Rail Project (Rs 2,120 crore), featuring 14 stations and five underground links.
- Launch of 660 MW Panki Thermal Power Extension Project (Rs 8,300 crore) and Ghatampur Thermal Power Project (three 660 MW units worth Rs 9,330 crore).
- New 132 kV substations in Ecotech-8 and 10, and a 220 kV substation in YEIDA, Greater Noida to meet power demands.
- Inauguration of a 40 MLD tertiary sewage treatment plant at Bingawan (Rs 290 crore) to promote wastewater reuse and sustainability.
- Widening of industrial and defence corridor roads, including Gauria Pali Marg and Narwal Mode–Kanpur Defence Node road.
- Inauguration of rail overbridges at Panki to improve traffic flow and logistics for the power sector.
The Prime Minister will also distribute certificates and cheques to beneficiaries under flagship schemes such as PM Ayushman Vay Vandana Yojana, National Livelihood Mission, and PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
