PM Modi and UK PM Keir Starmer Meet Business Leaders Following Historic India–UK Trade Deal.

In a significant boost to bilateral relations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer met with top business leaders from India and the United Kingdom today, shortly after the signing of the historic India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).
The high-level meeting, held in New Delhi, brought together prominent industry captains from both nations across a wide range of sectors including healthcare, pharmaceuticals, gems and jewellery, automobiles, energy, manufacturing, telecom, IT, logistics, textiles, and financial services. These sectors are seen as key pillars for job creation and inclusive economic development in both countries.
The two Prime Ministers acknowledged the growing strength of India–UK trade and investment ties in recent years. They urged the business communities of both nations to leverage the full potential of opportunities arising from the CETA and to expand collaborations in trade, innovation, and investment.
Highlighting the significance of the agreement, the leaders reiterated their shared commitment to driving inclusive economic growth through stronger bilateral cooperation. They noted that CETA is not just a trade pact but a catalyst for a new era of strategic and economic partnership between the two countries. As part of the engagement, the two leaders visited a special showcase of flagship products and innovations from both countries. The exhibition featured high-quality consumer goods, engineering innovations, gems and jewellery, and cutting-edge technological solutions, symbolising the breadth of economic and industrial collaboration.
Business leaders from both sides welcomed the landmark agreement and expressed optimism that it would pave the way for deeper partnerships in trade, emerging technologies, education, research, health, and innovation. They hailed CETA as a game-changer that would unlock new growth opportunities and strengthen India–UK economic ties for decades to come.
Prime Ministers Modi and Starmer reaffirmed their commitment to supporting enterprises—both large and small—in capitalising on the new trade landscape. They emphasised the importance of ensuring that the benefits of the agreement reach businesses at all levels, thereby reinforcing a people-centric approach to economic cooperation.
