CM Dedicates Projects Worth Rs. 76.41 Crore to Sulah, Announces Major Welfare and Development Initiatives.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today dedicated and laid foundation stones of 14 development projects worth Rs. 76.41 crore in the Sulah Assembly Constituency of Kangra district during his one-day tour of the area. On the occasion, he also inaugurated the newly upgraded Tehsil at Sulah, marking a significant step towards strengthening administrative and civic infrastructure in the region.

The Chief Minister inaugurated a double-lane bridge over Moal Khad on the Hamirpur–Sujanpur–Thural–Maranda road constructed at a cost of Rs. 12.57 crore, along with another bridge over Moal Khad on the Malag–Malaha link road built at a cost of Rs. 3.57 crore. He also inaugurated a combined office building at Dheera completed at an outlay of Rs. 10.82 crore and dedicated a Community Health Centre building at Dheera constructed at a cost of Rs. 5.02 crore.

Other projects inaugurated included Health Sub-Centre buildings at Kharul (Rs.16 lakh), Bhoda (Rs.15 lakh) and Kona (Rs.25 lakh), a Veterinary Hospital at Sulah (Rs.89 lakh), a Veterinary Dispensary at Moondhi (Rs.49 lakh), and additional accommodation for Government High School, Bhattu Samula (Rs.50 lakh). The Chief Minister also inaugurated Rs. 5.45 crore worth of improvement works for the water supply schemes of Jharet Rajhoon and Prour Kharot in Palampur tehsil. Additionally, he dedicated the Rs. 31.69 crore Parour and multi-village group piped water supply scheme, benefiting parts of Bhawarna, Bhedu Mahadev Block and Ghaloon (Malnoon) under the Sulah constituency.

He also laid foundation stones for a Rs. 2.87 crore bridge over Moal Khad on the Gallu Bhoda–Shivnagar road and a Rs. 2 crore additional complex of Chaudhary Tara Chand Government Senior Secondary School, Gaggal, in tehsil Dheera.

Key Announcements

Addressing a large public gathering, the Chief Minister announced Rs. 1,500 monthly financial assistance for all eligible women of Sulah constituency under the Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samaan Nidhi Yojna. He also announced the opening of a Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board division in Sulah and declared that Bhawarna would be upgraded to a Nagar Panchayat.

He said the state government was making continuous efforts for the holistic development of Kangra district. Referring to the expansion of Kangra Airport, he said affected people were being given fair compensation and the project would boost tourism, economic activity and local employment, reducing the need for youth to migrate outside the state.

Employment, Education and Health

The Chief Minister announced the recruitment of 800 police constables, with special consideration for youth returning after serving under the Agniveer scheme, who would be absorbed into the state police with job security up to the age of 58 and benefits under the Old Pension Scheme.

On education, he said Himachal Pradesh had improved from 21st to fifth position in quality education due to reforms, filling of teacher vacancies, introduction of English-medium education from Class 1 and conversion of over 200 schools to the CBSE pattern.

On healthcare, he announced that AIIMS-level facilities would be made available at Tanda Medical College, other medical colleges, Palampur Hospital and zonal hospitals within a year, along with the recruitment of doctors and specialists.

The Chief Minister also administered a pledge against drug abuse, reaffirming the government’s commitment to act strictly against drug mafias. Several ministers, MLAs and dignitaries were present on the occasion.
