CM Reviews Health Department, Pushes for Integrated Mother & Child Hospital at IGMC.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday evening chaired a high-level review meeting of the Health Department, directing officials to explore the establishment of an integrated Mother and Child Hospital (MCH) at (IGMC), Shimla.
Emphasizing the need for comprehensive and accessible healthcare, the Chief Minister instructed the department to constitute a committee under the leadership of Secretary . The committee has been tasked with identifying suitable space within the IGMC premises for setting up the proposed facility, ensuring its effective and efficient functioning. He noted that the state government aims to provide world-class healthcare services under one roof, particularly benefiting mothers and children.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister also sought innovative suggestions from the department to achieve a “zero waiting period” for diagnostic investigations in medical colleges across the state. He highlighted that the government is already in the process of installing advanced and high-end diagnostic machinery in health institutions, along with strengthening human resources to improve patient care.
Sukhu underlined the importance of a robust diagnostic system, stating that timely and accurate diagnosis is critical for effective treatment and overall healthcare delivery. “Upgrading diagnostic services is a top priority as it directly impacts patient outcomes,” he said.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to strengthening the healthcare sector, the Chief Minister said that vacancies for medical, paramedical, and technical staff are being filled on a priority basis. He added that both health and education sectors remain at the forefront of the state government’s agenda.
“There is no shortage of funds for these key sectors. The government is undertaking transformative reforms to ensure that people of Himachal Pradesh receive quality healthcare services within the state,” he asserted.
Among those present at the meeting were Secretary Ashish Singhmar, Special Secretary (Health) Jitender Sanjta , Principal IGMC Dr. Sita Thakur, and other senior officials of the Health Department.
