Israel Moves to Strengthen Rehabilitation and Support Framework for Wounded IDF and Security Forces Personnel.

Jerusalem:

The Israeli government has initiated steps to strengthen the national framework for the treatment, rehabilitation and support of wounded Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and security forces personnel, following Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s directive to advance the recommendations of a Public Committee chaired by Prof. Mor-Yosef.

A professional coordination meeting was held involving representatives of all relevant government ministries, led by Deputy Director-General of the Prime Minister’s Office Drorit Steinmetz, to examine the implementation of the committee’s recommendations and prepare a comprehensive government decision on the issue.

The committee’s key recommendations had earlier been presented to the Minister of Defense and the Minister of Finance, who expressed their commitment to improving the response system for disabled veterans of the IDF and security forces. They instructed professional teams in their respective ministries, in coordination with the Prime Minister’s Office, to formulate a government decision that would adopt the recommendations and address the needs of wounded service personnel.

During the latest meeting, officials reviewed the professional, administrative and budgetary aspects required to implement the proposed measures. The discussions focused on finalising a government decision draft that will include a series of steps aimed at enhancing rehabilitation services, medical support, care mechanisms and long-term assistance for disabled veterans.

The participating ministries coordinated their efforts to ensure that the proposed measures provide a comprehensive and effective response to the challenges faced by wounded security personnel and their families.

At the conclusion of the meeting, it was decided that the professional teams would complete the necessary groundwork and finalise the draft government decision at the earliest. The proposal is expected to be presented for government approval within the coming days.

The development reflects the joint commitment of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Minister of Defense and the Minister of Finance to improving support systems for disabled veterans of the IDF and security forces, recognising the significant contribution and personal sacrifices made by those who have served in protecting the State of Israel.

The government aims to complete the decision-making process in a timely and responsible manner to ensure improved rehabilitation, care and support services for wounded personnel.
