Congress Stages Protest at Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti Over Election Commission, Voter List Issues.

The Lahaul-Spiti District Congress Committee staged a protest at Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district on Monday, raising concerns over the functioning of the Election Commission of India and issues related to electoral rolls.

The protest was held under the chairmanship of district Congress in-charge Harichand Sharma. Party workers called for a fair and transparent electoral process and demanded protection of voters’ rights.

District Congress president Dorje Larje said a large number of workers participated in the demonstration despite heavy rain and severe cold conditions. He stressed that voters’ rights must be protected and issues concerning electoral rolls should be addressed promptly.

During the protest, Congress workers voiced opposition to the functioning of the Election Commission under Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Speakers said transparency in the electoral process and safeguarding voters’ rights were essential for strengthening democracy.

The protesters also said the Congress would continue its agitation until the Election Commissioner resigns.

Former district Congress president Gyalson Thakur, former spokesperson Anil Sehgal, spokesperson Ram Singh Thomas, district Congress general secretary Arun Kumar and Udaipur Block Congress Committee president Khushal Thakur were among those present, along with other party workers.
