Lahaul-Spiti MLA Reviews Development Works and Winter Preparations, Stresses on Winter Sports and Public Service Enhancements.

Lahaul-Spiti MLA Anuradha Rana conducted an extensive review of ongoing development projects and winter preparations in the Lahaul and Spiti district during a meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Keylong yesterday. The meeting focused on ensuring essential services continue smoothly during the harsh winter months and identifying key areas for improvement in public services and employment schemes.
Rana highlighted the need for increased awareness about government employment schemes, especially for underprivileged communities. She urged departments to organize more awareness camps to ensure that these benefits reach those who need them the most.
In addition, the MLA emphasized the importance of winter sports in Lahaul, noting their potential to boost local youth employment and tourism. She instructed the district administration and tourism department to initiate programs to promote winter sports events in the region.
The review also covered updates from various departments, including agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, rural development, public works, health, industry, and tribal welfare. Rana encouraged departments to fully utilize their budgets for public welfare projects and to ensure that no funds are left unused. She also stressed the importance of completing development works on schedule.
On infrastructure matters, the MLA suggested exploring parking solutions in Keylong to address the increasing number of visitors. She also directed authorities to expedite the resolution of pending issues related to the Forest Conservation Act (FCA) and Forest Rights Act (FRA) to ensure the timely execution of development projects.
Rana urged all departments to collaborate effectively and complete development projects within the designated time frames. On transportation, she advised that HRTC buses continue to operate as long as road conditions allow, ensuring uninterrupted mobility for residents.
The meeting was attended by Keylong Sub-Divisional Magistrate Rajneesh Sharma, Udaipur Sub-Divisional Magistrate Manoj Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Sankalp Gautam, DSP Rajkumar, and other department officials.
