Five Eminent Personalities Honored with Thakur Vedram Memorial State Award in Himachal Pradesh. 

 

Shimla:

In a grand ceremony held at the Bhuttico Auditorium in Kullu district, five distinguished personalities from various fields across Himachal Pradesh were honored with the prestigious Vedram Thakur Memorial State Award. The awards, instituted to commemorate the legendary cooperative leader Thakur Vedram Thakur, recognize outstanding contributions to society in media, culture, sports, and social service.

The event also coincided with the birthday celebration of former minister and “Sahkarita Shiromani” Satya Prakash Thakur, which was marked with a cake-cutting ceremony, adding warmth to the formal gathering. The program was organized by the Thakur Vedram Memorial Social, Cultural, Welfare & Environment Society, Bhutti Colony, Kullu, which has been recognizing talent and service since 2010.

The following personalities were awarded this year:

  1. Chhavinder Thakur (Print Media):
    A veteran journalist, writer, and advocate from Manali, Chhavinder Thakur was awarded for his long-standing contributions to Hindi and English journalism. Known for his profound knowledge of multiple languages and dialects, he has served as a freelancer while also practicing law.
  2. Ranveer Thakur (Electronic Media):
    Ranveer Thakur, the sharp and dynamic State Special Correspondent of News-18 from Shimla, was honored for his impactful journalism in the electronic media space.
  3. Neeta Rana (Emerging Talent):
    Hailing from the Kharahal Valley of Kullu district, international kho-kho player Neeta Rana received the award for her recent gold medal win at an international kho-kho championship. A member of the world champion Indian team, she has brought pride to the nation.
  4. Leela Thakur (Folk Culture):
    A renowned folk singer from the Seraj Valley, Leela Thakur was honored for her role in preserving and promoting Himachal’s traditional music. Her melodious voice continues to keep the state’s cultural heritage alive.
  5. Nisha Thakur (Social Upliftment):
    A B.Sc Nursing graduate from Sainj Valley, Nisha Thakur has been selflessly educating children from slum areas for the past seven years. She has been delivering doorstep education to underprivileged children, helping them shape a better future.

Chairman of the award selection committee, Ramesh Thakur, welcomed all attendees and lauded the contributions of this year’s awardees. Selection committee members Dhanesh Gautam and Shalini Roy Bhardwaj shared that since 2010, over 32 journalists, 15 social workers, 15 folk artists, and 15 emerging talents have been honored with this award.

The ceremony saw the presence of Bhuttico’s former MD Brahma Swaroop Thakur, Vice Chairman Rohit Thakur, Shivani Thakur, Dinesh Thakur, Anuj Thakur, and several other dignitaries.

This annual state-level award continues to inspire individuals across Himachal Pradesh to contribute meaningfully in their respective fields and uphold the values championed by Thakur Vedram.
