President of India Droupadi Murmu on Monday extended warm greetings to citizens of the country and Indians living abroad on the eve of Lohri, Makar Sankranti, Pongal and Magh Bihu, which will be celebrated on January 13 and 14 across different parts of the nation.

In her message, the President highlighted the cultural and agricultural significance of these harvest festivals, describing them as symbols of India’s rich traditions, unity and diversity. She noted that festivals such as Lohri in North India, Makar Sankranti celebrated across the country, Pongal in the South, and Magh Bihu in Assam reflect the deep-rooted connection between Indian society and agriculture.

“These festivals are a reflection of our vibrant and diverse cultural heritage,” the President said, adding that they provide an opportunity to acknowledge and salute the tireless efforts of farmers who work relentlessly to feed the nation. She emphasized that the celebrations also express collective gratitude to Mother Nature for her bounty.

President Murmu further expressed hope that the spirit of love, harmony and solidarity associated with these festivals would continue to strengthen social bonds across the country. She called upon citizens to work together towards building a prosperous and inclusive nation.
