PM Benjamin Netanyahu Mourns Fallen Soldiers Killed in Southern Lebanon Fighting.
Jerusalem:
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of three Israeli soldiers who were killed in combat operations in southern Lebanon, paying tribute to their bravery and extending condolences to their families.
In separate statements, Netanyahu said that he and his wife, along with all citizens of Israel, share in the grief of the bereaved families and stand united in mourning the loss of the soldiers who died in the line of duty.
Tribute to Fallen Soldiers
The Prime Minister paid homage to Sergeant Uri Greenberg of the Golani Patrol, who was killed during fighting in southern Lebanon. He praised Greenberg’s courage and dedication in defending Israel’s northern border, describing his actions as heroic in the face of danger.
Netanyahu also extended condolences to the family of Sergeant Aviad Elhanan Wolansky, an armored corps soldier who lost his life in what he referred to as the Battle of Lebanon. He commended Wolansky for fighting with strength and determination against threats to the nation.
In addition, the Prime Minister mourned the death of Sergeant Moshe Yitzhak HaCohen Katz, a paratrooper who had moved to Israel from the United States to serve in the military. Netanyahu highlighted Katz’s commitment to protecting the homeland, noting that he enlisted in the paratrooper brigade and fought with exceptional bravery.
Nation in Mourning
Netanyahu emphasized that the entire nation stands with the families during this difficult time, offering support and solidarity. He also conveyed wishes for a swift and full recovery to soldiers injured in the same incident.
Referring to the fallen as heroes, the Prime Minister stated that their sacrifice in defense of the country will be remembered and honored.
“May their memory be a blessing,” Netanyahu said, echoing a traditional expression of remembrance as Israel continues to grapple with the human cost of ongoing conflict in the region.
